How to Be Saved

Life can be very exciting! Each day brings new opportunities to have fun and make memories.  The grim reality, however, is that nothing in this life matters if you have not prepared for life hereafter. The statistical fact that 100% of all people die has been undeniably proven over and over again. It may be at twenty years old or it may be at ninety, but the truth is, one day death will come to you. Do you know for sure that when it is your turn to die, you will go to Heaven? There are a couple things you need to realize if you are to be sure you are going to Heaven.

Realize that God loves you.

John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” No matter what you have done in your past – good or bad; no matter your age, race, background, or any other factor, God loves you and wants to give you eternal life.

Realize that you are a sinner.

Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” That means that no matter how much good we do, or how hard we try to get to Heaven, all of our human efforts are in vain because our sin has separated us from God.

Realize that sin must be paid for.

Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The “wage,” or payment, for sin is death – not only physical death, but also spiritual death. To die without Christ is to be separated from God for eternity in a horrible place called Hell.

Realize that Jesus Christ paid the price for your sin when He died on the cross.

Romans 5:8 says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” To some, the cross is just an emblem of Christianity, but to those who have accepted Christ as Saviour, it is a symbol of life and hope. If we choose to accept Christ, we do not have to pay the price of death and Hell for our sins. Jesus paid for our sins when He gave His life on the cross. To die and go to Hell is to needlessly go to Hell with your sins paid for.

Pray and ask Jesus Christ to be your Saviour.

Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” This is a promise from a God who cannot lie. It sounds simple because it really is. If you will pray to Him, confess that you are a sinner, ask Him to forgive you for your sins, and accept Him as your Saviour, then He will save you. You have the full assurance of the promise of God that He will take you to Heaven when you die.
